AMPHIBIANS

I never did know that amphibians were special creatures. I used to think of them as animals that lived part of their life in water and part of it on land. Thus, crocodiles, alligators, hippos as well as beavers were amphibians. I believed this until my teacher told me I was wrong. He said that there are only four main types of true amphibians: salamanders, newts, frogs and toads, and caecilians. Amphibians have gills like fish through which they breathe when in water. They also breathe through their skins when on land.

Did you know that?
